This documentation is for CCXML 1.0-Voxeo, which has been superceded by CCXML 1.0-W3C. The CCXML-Voxeo platform is not being updated any longer. The CCXML 1.0-W3C version, however, has many new features and is actively being enhanced. If you're writing a new CCXML application, you should use CCXML 1.0-W3C. Click here for the CCXML 1.0-W3C documentation.

Which Platform Should I Use?

Prophecy: Voice Center 7.0 & 8.0

The Prophecy telephony platform is the newest addition to the Voxeo offerings. This platform is offered not only as a hosted option, but also as a free downloadable 2-port standalone system. If you find the ease of developing in a hosted environment, then you are encouraged to do so from within your Voxeo Evolution account, but for those with an eye towards an on-site deployment, then you may well wish to download the Prophecy platform and run it on your local system. The Prophecy 7.0 and 8.0 platforms offer the most specifications-compliant CCXML 1.0 and VoiceXML 2.1 platforms that are available, anywhere in the world, and also contains the updated CallXML3.0 platform, which has been even further enhanced with voice recognition capabilities. Prophecy is also an MRCP compliant platform, which allows for easier integrations with components that come from alternate vendors.

Prophecy CallXML 3.0

Introduced in late 2005, CallXML 3.0 adds powerful enhancements to this widely used, simple-to-learn IVR markup. Retaining its low cost and short learning curve, 3.0 adds the ability to use simple voice recognition menus within your applications, and employs built-in conditional logic operations to further extend it's capabilities. Additionally, CallXML 3.0 sports new container element aliases and also features built-in XPath support, allowing developers to build robust IVR applications using only static content. You can visit our CallXML 3.0 Developer Guide to use our samples and how-to tutorials and start developing your apps.

Prophecy CCXML 1.0

Voxeo's newest addition to the IVR family is the world's first CCXML 1.0 compliant hosting platform, which sets the standard for all other CCXML 1.0 deployments.  The Prophecy CCXML 1.0 platform  is the best option on which to deploy your next-generation conferencing/call routing applications to ensure that they will stand the test of time. For details and code samples specific to this most recent version of CCXML 1.0, visit the Voxeo documentation set.

Prophecy VoiceXML 2.1

The Prophecy VoiceXML 2.1 platform is the worlds first and only 100% certified-compliant VoiceXML 2.0 browser. Concerned about IVR application portability? Worry no longer, as the Prophecy platform allows you to develop applications that you won't have to retool if you migrate to another compliant platform. The Prophecy VoiceXML platform supports all the VoiceXML 2.1 additions and enhancements as well as the SISR/SRGS grammar formatting standards and also includes Legacy support for the older GSL and JSGF grammar formats. The whole Prophecy package offers you and your callers an enormous range of flexibility and options in your voice-activated IVR deployments. The Voxeo VoiceXML 2.1 Development Guide should serve as a starting point for your Prophecy VoiceXML development.

The Prophecy platform by default, uses the following components:

However, do note that the following platform configurations are available to our developer community in a hosted capacity upon request and approval:

Prophecy Multilanguage, (US)

In addition, we do offer a multilanguage platform for US development purposes only. Note that this platform and all it's associated languages are available for US-based deployment in a production capacity with the purchase of dedicated TTS and ASR ports, but you can try it out for free on the Staging network. Note that the Staging-only restriction applies only to the US market; those deploying production applications via Voxeo Europe are not subject to any per-port limitations for deployment.

Prophecy Europe

Voxeo also offers development and production services abroad, with a datacenter residing in London, England. The Prophecy Voice Center 7.0 & 8.0 platforms, including Evolution Designer, are offered in a hosted capacity for our non-US developers, and contains a much wider array of ASR and TTS options to develop with. This platform is available to our developers upon request only; contact sales@voxeo.com for details.

Prophecy Evolution Designer

The Evolution Designer is our GUI-based, visual design utility for creating VoiceXML applications. This platform type is available primarily for the novice IVR developer, who requires a rapid development cycle without having a seasoned VoiceXMl developer on staff. The intuitive "flowchart" application design steps make it easy for a new developer to create and deploy production-grade telephony applications with a minimum of invested time. The Designer is not only available as a hosted  option, but is also available when downloading the Prophecy platform to run locally.

Voice Center 5.5 (deprecated)

The Voice Center 5.5 platform has served as the standard Voxeo platform, and contains each of the options listed below. As this platform is an older software version, it is only available for existing production customers, or upon request. New developers are encouraged instead to make use of the newer Prophecy platform, which contains numerous updates and enhancements that allow many more options for the developer.

CallXML 2.0

As a simple markup language with a short learning curve, it suits the needs of most telephony applications that use touchtone input (DTMF) exclusively. More specific information on CallXML can be found in the Voxeo CallXML Development Guide.

CCXML 2002

Based on the CCXML specification from 2002, the worlds first CCXML platform offers the ability to perform multiparty conferencing, intelligent call routing, and manby asynchronous features that allow for a more powerful caller experience. As a standalone markup language for conferencing needs, it is powerful in it's own right, but when used as a delivery and control system for your VoiceXML applications, the possibilities are endless. Check out the Voxeo Call Control XML 2002 Development Guide to learn about how the CCXML 2002 platform can enhance your applications.

VoiceXML 2.0

Rigidly compliant to the w3c specification and very robust, this browser is a rock-solid solution for IVR applications that require a recognized standard for complex voice recognition dialogs. This platform uses the following components:

More information can be found on this fine platform in the Voxeo VoiceXML 2.0 Development Guide.
